Still learning to use OSX
Posted by pbirnie under technology
I have been using my mac full time for the last 6 months - and there are still some basic things I have to learn
I was trying to install a flash debugger - called demonsterdebugger
I needed to install adobe air and for some reason google found this url for me - http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/air.html which is a ancient version (beta 3).
It was now displaying the error: "This application requires a version of Adobe AIR which is no longer supported. Please contact the application author for an updated version."
Why is Adobe sharing old versions of their product? An why did I end up finding this particular url? Is it that there are a lot of mature links pointing to this url - which then makes google give it a high ranking?
Once I figured out that this was not going to be the correct version of air - I downloaded adobe air from the correct url
Ok, so now I clicked on the demonsterdebugger install file - and vmware started up my windows instance (inside a vm) - which is not what I wanted. After lots of fiddling around I eventually found changing file associations in osx which allowed me to tell osx to run air inside osx and not windows. It was a fairly obvious thing - I am just still learning to use my mac..
